The new year brought some favours to buyers in the real estate market. Owners of older flats, who have meticulously kept the price on unreal level are lessening down their demands. The developers too meet the needs of the clients who have no problem with changes in the plans of new buildings. "The prices of flats are still likely to drop in the housing market. But we are not expecting such a significant decrease in prices as we have already experienced last year. Older apartments, thanks to their price affordability, should start to stagnate first," says David Dereník, macro analyst of UniCredit Bank Slovakia .

According to Victoria Miller of CB Richard Ellis, the highest "discounts" will be most likely in more expensive or luxury apartments. "We can say that owners are not willing to give a discount on a selling price of older homes, until they really need to sell. Prices for older flats usually include a parking space or other things which belong to the flat. Bonuses in the form of discounts such as the furniture, are out of the question, so presumably only further price discounts are possible. It is difficult to say where you can get the highest discounts, probably in luxury apartments,"says Miller.
